LIGHTINIG DESIGN AND MARKETING For this project, we had to create a company based on the current real world market. After several researches about the decorative lighting industry, I decided to reach a low-price product, that would have good design, but simple materials. My product would also have organic forms, with a modular connection. In this way, the customer would have fun with the puzzle ìDo-It-Yourselfî, and it would became a part of the purpose of the product. Other goals and objectives for my company would be: Increase the selling space by 15% in 3 years, Improve production efficiency by 5% per year and Invest additional 5% per year on marketing in coming 3 years.

The Living Room

The couch is inspired by nature and its curved forms, which can provide more comfort and also more flexibility. People can use it in different ways and sit in different positions. It can be an important piece in a room, since it is interesting to be seen from the back and from both sides. The coffee table design intents to provide the customers the possibility to use it in different forms and dimensions. As a revival of Art Deco movement, it has a clean but also modern shape, which can compose an interesting room.   Additionally, the divider intends to create a intimate room, but it also provides some integration, as long as its height is above the eye line, allowing a full vision from the space.

Tiles

CERAMIC DESIGN During a semester, I took some art classes to learn the tile process. We started with some hand-made ceramic ones, whereas we could create the shape that we wanted. We learned some color techniques, as Adobe, before and after burning them. The next step was creating a pattern on a prefabricated tile. The technique used was “Corda Seca” (dry rope), that allows us draw a thin line that separate the colors.

UFMG School of Architecture

This project intend to engage the architecture and urban planning students to participate through the process of the development to the new building of the university. It was a collaborative process where every student could contribute in each others project. As the land is uneven, the first floor is designated to the library. The promenade integrates the first three floors. The studio classrooms also intents to create integration for the students, as they have a doble-height ceiling and a common mezzanine . As the project takes place in a tropical country, the marquee protects from the sun as brise soleil. It also creates open spaces that are hallways and can be used as place to socialize and develop other activities. This commercial complex was planned in a central and  densely populated area of the city. Located on the same block as Oscar Niemeyerís  historical house, the two towers were designed to integrate with the house and create a new use for it. In the main building, the first and the second floor are dedicated to stores and other sevices. In the other one, there is a hotel lobby, a bank and a fitness center. The central area can be easily accessed by the pathwalk. The upper floors are designated to offices and health clinics. They all have different sizes and proposals of layout. Brejinho’s Park

The park was planned in a swamp area, which includes seven water sources. Today it is polluted, and the main objective of this project is to preserve the river and the native florest. The lake in the middle, created using the topography, promotes socialization and above it there is a  observation deck, where you can have a panoramic view of the  park. Due to the large size of the park, there are 3 access points in order to integrate the neighborhood surrounding it. Seeking to stimulate community users, there is an acoustic shell for events, a theatre and an auditorium. It also contains bike lanes, sports area for skating, courts, and a soccer field. Edifício Bordô

The proposal of this project was to make the architect the enterpriser, by understanding the real estate market. The building was designed considering a real and available 900 m2  lot. It was made based on studies and research, to attend to the demand of the neighborhood population, that was for small and low cost apartments. Each apartment has a different configuration, which allows variations of prices and demands. All the costs, including the purchase of the lot, construction and other taxes, were calculated to make the enterprise profitable. The commercial establishment also helped to lower the costs, and the yoga studio can have a connection with the building, if the owner desires. The second floor has a balcony, with a view of the city. AUTHORS Mariana Macedo, Isabela Guerra, Iara Pezutti ADVISORS Professor Guilherme Vasconcelos
